In a group session a few days ago, someone I absolutely love working with told all of us on the call that:

We cheered for her and congratulated her, because . . . it was not easy, and it was not done overnight, but all the assets she’d put in place or refined, since joining my group course, were doing what they were designed to do—lead people to her, help people decide her work was right for them, and remove the need for her to chase people down or post 62 times per week on social media.

Imagine having one book, one or two publications (like a blog and a podcast), one starter course, one deeper service, and a few key intellectual property assets (like essays or keynotes) in place, all built on your best ideas . . . and having those pieces doing all the “heavy lifting” in your business. That’s an Idea-First Platform.

A platform that’s adding a clear contribution to your industry or topic, a platform that makes it clear what we should know you for and hire you for. A platform that centers your ideas, not your performance or labor on social media 🤬.

We all have the choice each month or each quarter: do more of the same on social media . . . or . . . put one of the high ROI assets of an Idea-First Platform in place.

Each time you choose to focus on longevity and assets that grow in value (instead of depreciating assets like social media), it’s like laying the foundation, building the structure, or finishing one of the rooms of your ideal home, where you get to live among your ideal community members.

The coach I was talking about above? She’s someone who has put the majority of these assets in place over the last 2–3 years. And during that time, her other main activities were speaking on stages, hosting intimate workshops, and doing 1:1 coaching. Social media did not rule her life.

I want 1,000 more thought leaders, coaches, and authors to share updates like these with our community in the coming years. I’ve set up these radical ROI, idea-first assets for myself, and they have carried my business for over a decade. But, these assets don’t just work for me, or for topics like mine.

They work well when you do deep, changemaking work. They work well when your valuable contribution to the world is ideas, frameworks, and care.

So, what will we focus on during our three 90-minute sessions? You can choose one or more of the following for us to do together:

  • If it’s been a while since you revisited this, we will work on:

    • Outlining the core tenets/beliefs driving your work

    • Creating a “North Star” question that you seek to answer with your body of work

    • Outlining the major changes you want to make to your industry or certain systems

    • Etc.

  • I will share with you several options for effective, high ROI, idea-first assets you may want to build over the coming months. We can cover items like:

    • A core tenet essay

    • An email course that lets people “test drive” your approach

    • A signature workshop, keynote, or niche training

    • A “proof of concept” product you can offer

    • And more

    After you pick the ones that are most important to you, we will come up with a plan for creating and (if applicable) selling these assets.

If you’re not a member of either course, I can go over this ads system with you and help you plan a campaign.

  • We can work on a plan for your search, social, and suggestion engine optimized publication (blog, podcast, or YouTube channel) and outline a “starter stack” of pieces you’ll create, plus an overall SEO³ plan.

  • You can choose from other focus activities like:

    • Crafting a new curriculum or info design principles for your main program or keynote/workshop.

    • Creating a marketing plan for your book.

    • Outlining a product you can use as a prerequisite for your deeper offer.

    • Etc.
