It’s time for a game night 🎲devoted to finding you the best nonfiction book ideas.
I know game nights are probably not your standard brainstorming container . . . but, why not?
Why can’t ideation be fun? And a little bit weird? Like you.
You’re not the average expert in your industry, so let’s try something unique. Through a couple rounds of Book Idea BINGO and a Frameworks & Philosophies Scavenger Hunt, you can leave with dozens of ideas for your first or next book.
So, what are the games we’ll be playing again?
First up: Book Idea BINGO
You’ll pick up to two special BINGO cards to play with.
Every square on your BINGO cards is a thought-provoking prompt designed to excavate the golden ideas hiding in your head and your experience.
You'll get the prompts as soon as you join Game Night (link in bio), if you want to get started early. You'll also have time on game night to answer them as well.
The catch with our game of BINGO? You not only have to get 5 squares in a line, but you have to actually have answers for the prompts.
Next up: The Frameworks & Philosophies Scavenger Hunt
You'll complete mini quests through multiple categories of resources on/in your computer, phone, notebooks, past client convos, and more.
If you use AI tools, I'll share with you some fun AI-powered activities to unearth hidden IP you've already developed.
The goal? Finding things that could be frameworks or philosophies you base your book off or share inside your book.
As seen in:
Regina here.
I kinda sorta published my first book in 2012. “Book” is used loosely here because it was a document I created then printed out and hole-punched into a binder for students inside my continuing education courses at the University of Texas.
But, it gave me an idea: why not really publish this as a book? Maybe it would be helpful to people who didn’t live in Austin, Texas but still wanted the info 🤷🏽♀️?
I sold copies each month at my in-person classes ✅. I sold copies on both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble’s website each month ✅. The book got picked up by a few colleges for their small business classes as a required textbook ✅. The book made it into certain libraries ✅. I was approached for a traditional publishing opportunity through a higher ed institution ✅. Etc.
I’ve since published many more eBooks, print books, online and in-person workshops, audio courses, and more. But nothing . . . and I mean nothing, matches the feeling of getting a client’s or student’s book in the mail. Or buying books where I actually know the author 🙌🏽.
I can frequently be found showing/gushing about client and acquaintance books on Zoom, and or randomly petting the books 🤣 because I’m so proud of what the people I know have created. I’d love to host you for Nonfiction Book Idea Game Night, because I’d love for you to get the ideas, publish the book, and give me more great stuff to read and proudly display on my shelf.
So, that’s what I did. I figured out all the steps, did the hard work of writing a whole book (and fighting all the mental and emotional roadblocks that came up), and published my first real print book in 2013. Then, a lot happened.
By the end of Book Idea Game Night 🎲, the goal is for you to have:
✔️ Dozens of new book ideas that hopefully excite you and help you publish shelf-worthy titles in the next year
✔️ The beginnings of chapters or sections you might include in your book (or in an upcoming essay or product)
✔️ New friends to stay in touch with on your book publishing journey
When and where is game night? It's on Zoom on both Wednesday, September 3 at 7p ET. When you register, you’ll get the link for Game Night (and all the prep docs) right away 🎉.
